ANNOUNCEMENT - THE FLOGGINGS RETURN

After a long hiatus from updating this blog, due to the publishing and marketing of my debut novel entitled Whipping Post (published by Weaving Dreams Publishing), and then moving, it is time for the floggings to return. In addition to my opinions, of particular note will be regular postings of "GET THIS..." in which I hope to inform and regale readers of some of the most absurd and sordid events going on around us. Enjoy and check back for a flogging often.

GET THIS...

How do you feel about being a measly $1 poker chip in a giant Texas Hold ‘Em tournament? Or if you prefer a different metaphor, a lowly pawn in a really big chess game. Well, that is exactly what you and your paycheck are at this time, courtesy of the clowns we sent to Washington to represent us. (Note to the 47%’ers - if you are one of those that are not paying taxes so the rest of us can support you, then there is no need for you to read on. Go back to watching Judge Judy in your pajamas.)

The tax cuts President George W. Bush enacted are set to expire, again, at the end of the year. And the circus in Washington just can’t resist using this as a political football, each party threatening the other and pointing fingers across the aisle like school kids as to why and who caused the tax cuts to expire. Is there really anybody out there that believes a Congress-person worth his or her salt wants to stop a tax increase? They all salivate at getting their hands on more of our money.

Left coast loon, and Washington (state) Senate Democrat, Patty Murray, whose net worth is listed at about $1.5 million, stated this week that if Republicans don’t relent on their position, her caucus (that would be Democrats) is ready to let all the Bush tax cuts expire, which would then cause your taxes to increase. Do you understand that logic – if the Republicans don’t change their position, the Democrats are going to allow your taxes to go up, and it will be the Republicans fault? And would you believe it; the Republicans have a different view on the matter? The bottom line is it will cost us because our pathetic “Do-Nothing” Congress couldn’t successfully run a curb-side lemonade stand.

Murray was quoted as saying, "If middle-class families (that would be me and you) start seeing more money coming out of their paychecks next year (in taxes) - are Republicans really going to stand up and fight for new tax cuts for the rich?" So her point is that unless she can bully her way on Obama’s class warfare mantra to make the “rich” pay more taxes, she will allow more taxes to be taken from us schmucks. It is my understanding that the proposed extra tax to the "rich" will raise about $8 billion per year;

…enough to run the government for about 8 days! November is looming folks.
